WEEK 9: CHALLENGES OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Assalamualaikum everyone!

This week I am going to talk about the crucial part of sustainable development which is the challenges in applying the sustainable development method. We all know that sustainable development brings many benefits during this globalization era especially for developing countries like Malaysia. However, the way we think that sustainable development will bring more advantages is not like we expected because nowadays, there are a lot of illegal actions have been done in Malaysia. For example, in Pahang, they were a lot of deforestation because some buildings were being built. Those actions of sustainable development only brought profit and making the animals lost their habitats. The irresponsible and greedy person who commits those actions only thinks about money but not the environment. This is very opposite with the SDGs 'Life On Land' where we need to preserve and sustain every living thing that lives in the forest and so on.

Not only that, during this pandemic hour, a lot of people lost their job and in need of money to support their families. Some of them willing to do many jobs like being food riders and grab riders in order to get money. It is not easy to find money but they have to do so to get food to eat. However, some of the higher authorities try to close a lot of businesses to reduce the covid-19 spread. Moreover, they even try to sue people who work without their permission with a minimum of RM10k. For the people who did not have a stable job, this amount of fine is very high to pay. The higher authorities should consider of giving a fine to everyone they see that breaking the rules because most of them have their own reasons and also not all of them can afford to pay the fine. On the contrary, the silver spoon person was being fined a lower amount than usual and for me, this action is unfair because everyone should be treated equally.

Therefore, I hope this issue can be solved and the higher authorities should think twice before doing actions that can harm others and troublesome. I think that is all my opinion regarding the challenges of sustainable development. :)
